K and I had to go to a different office today morning for a meeting. We got in earlier than expected and the meeting was running behind schedule. We ended up sitting in the reception area, chatting, almost for an hour.
All the while that we were there, people kept walking in and out and it seemed like every other person was someone I knew or worked with in the past. So I was very frequently greeting some one or the other and making small talk.
Internally, I was feeling quite pleased with this happening in front of K - who has just spent 2 years overall working.
And then he says, "Wow, you are like the building security guy. You know everybody".
